Refund Policy

Last updated: September 19, 2026

Billing on Common Compute runs on prepaid credit: you keep a card on file and use it to buy credit, every job is quoted and locked before it runs, and your balance is drawn only when the job completes successfully. This page explains exactly when credit comes back to you — automatically or on request. It summarizes and is governed by Section 3 of the Terms of Service.

The short version

  • Failed jobs are never billed. There is no charge to refund because the charge never happens.
  • Billing errors are fixed. If we charged you incorrectly for a successful job, tell us and we'll make it right — back to your original payment method.

1. Failed jobs — never charged

You only pay for work that completes. Quotes are locked at submission, retries are free, and a job that ends in a failed state never draws from your balance — the credit held against it while it ran is released back to you. Your billing ledger shows every charge with its job and receipt ID, so you can verify this yourself.

2. Billing errors on completed jobs

If a completed job was billed at the wrong rate, double-charged, or charged for more units than it processed, email contact@commoncompute.ai with the job or receipt ID within 60 days of the transaction. We'll investigate against the signed task receipts and return the disputed amount to your credit balance. If you would rather have it back on the original payment method, say so and we'll refund it there instead.

3. Platform-fault failures

If a job fails because of us — a provider machine drops mid-task, verification rejects a result, or the network can't complete the work — it is treated like any other failed job: no charge. The service is in alpha with no SLA, so availability issues don't accrue service credits; you simply don't pay for work that didn't happen.

4. Legacy prepaid balances

Accounts from before the move to per-job billing may hold a legacy prepaid balance. Those balances are no longer drawn down; if you have one, email us and we'll refund the unused amount purchased with real money on a pro-rata basis, less payment-processing fees, per Section 10 of the Terms.

4a. Cancellations, batches, and duplicate requests

  • A request rejected before acceptance or failed for unavailable capacity receives no final charge; any temporary reservation is released.
  • If you cancel after measured work begins, completed measured units may be charged only where the quote disclosed that billing unit. Work that records no billable usage is not charged.
  • Items in a batch are billed individually, so successful items may be charged while failed items are not.
  • A retry with the same valid idempotency key produces at most one accepted job and one charge. A new request or changed payload may create separately billable work.

4b. Credit purchases

Compute credit is not cash, a bank deposit, or an interest-bearing account. Except for a billing error, a legacy balance described above, a right required by law, or a refund we expressly approve, purchased credit is not redeemable for cash or transferable between accounts. Unused credit does not expire under the current policy. We will announce and obtain any assent required before changing that treatment.

5. Chargebacks

Please contact us before disputing a charge with your card issuer — refunds through us are faster. Accounts with active chargebacks may be suspended pending resolution, per the Terms.

6. How to reach us

All refund questions: contact@commoncompute.ai. Include the job ID, batch ID, or receipt ID if you have it and only the minimum information needed to investigate. We aim to acknowledge a complete request within 2 business days; investigation and payment processor timing may take longer.
